Shonen Jump “Refreshes” Lineup: 4 Brand New Manga Series Arriving Next Month

Posted on

Shonen Jump will suspend 4 manga series to make way for new releases.

Weekly Shonen Jump (WSJ) magazine has just confirmed that it will launch 4 new manga series in the coming month, promising a breath of fresh air for readers. However, this good news also means that at least 4 current series will have to “pack their bags and leave,” bringing the total number of manga “cut” this year to 6. With the return of familiar names and the debut of potential mangaka, will these 4 rookies be able to stand firm and become the new “hits” of WSJ?

According to information from the reliable Funsuri, the magazine will introduce 4 new series from issues 29 to 32. The list includes: Harukaze Mound by Togo Goto & Matsura Kento, Kaedegami by Harukawa Jun, Ekiden Bros by Nono Daiki, and Ping Pong by Kataoka Yoshiharu.

· Issue #29: ‘Harukaze Mound’ by Togo Goto & Matsura Kento.
· Issue #30: ‘Kaedegami’ by Harukawa Jun.
· Issue #31: ‘Ekiden Bros’ by Nono Daiki.
· Issue #32: ‘Ping Pong’ by Kataoka Yoshiharu.

Harukaze Mound will be given the coveted cover and lead pages in its debut issue, and it’s likely the remaining manga will receive similar “welcomes.” While it’s not yet clear which manga will be “axed” to make space, we can make a few predictions.

The new Shonen Jump lineup has been revealed.

Super Psychic Policeman Chojo by Shun Numa is the first work to officially “bid farewell” to readers, concluding its 65-chapter run in this week’s WSJ Issue #28. Three other manga are also “teetering on the brink,” with Star of Beethoven by Morihiro Hayashi (debuted February 2025) being the strongest contender.

Many fans have noticed that Star of Beethoven‘s storyline is progressing too quickly, a sign that the manga might soon conclude. Syd Craft: Love Is a Mystery by Taishi Tsutsui and Embers by Kei Kurumazaki are also potential candidates for cancellation, due to their lower popularity and readership.

It’s no secret that WSJ is willing to “cancel” a manga if it doesn’t quickly achieve success. However, the fact that four manga are being “cut” simultaneously indicates that the publisher is actively searching for new “hits,” alongside Kagurabachi and Ichi the Witch, to fill the void left by My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen. This new wave of rookies promises a lot of excitement, especially with the return of the Phantom Seers author duo and the appearance of manga about table tennis and ekiden (relay running).

Which new Shonen Jump manga series are you most looking forward to? Will they be able to “hold their own” and become the next “blockbusters”?
